Brian Chiputwa
Dr. Brian Chiputwa is a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Research Methods Group at the World Agroforestry Centre. His primary role is setting up analytical workflows that integrate and analyze big data Sentinel Landscape Network that uses standardized mixed methods in multiple countries. The analytical workflows are used to construct poverty and livelihood indicators as well as for data management and archiving. As a member of the Research Methods Group, Brian also provides research support to scientists in the design and use of contemporary and innovative research methods and survey tools that generate rigorous evidence of the impacts of agroforestry practices. He is an active member of the CGIAR Gender Network, a community of experts mainstreaming gender within the CGIAR Research programs.
Brian received his PhD in Agricultural Economics and Rural Development from the University of Goettingen in Germany. He holds a Masters degree in Applied Agricultural Economics from the University of Georgia, USA, as well as a BSc and MSc in Agricultural Economics and Extension from the University of Zimbabwe.
Before joining the World Agroforestry Centre, Brian was an Impact Evaluation Specialist for the Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP) and previously worked the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre (CIMMYT), the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and the University of Zimbabwe. His research main interest is on impact Evaluation of agricultural interventions such as climate-smart technologies, on poverty, food security, gender dynamics and nutrition. He has over eight years experience in designing, implementing and analyzing quantitative and qualitative surveys in Eastern and Southern Africa.
