Daniel Ortiz Gonzalo
Daniel is a PhD Student at the University of Copenhagen, Montpellier Supagro and ICRAF – World Agroforestry Centre, under the AgTraIn –Agriculture Transformation by Innovation– Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate Programme of the European Commission. Daniel’s background is related to environmental sciences and engineering, currently working on Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and Carbon Sequestration in Smallholder Systems of Central Kenya. He is interested in whole-farm C-N balances of crop-livestock systems, adding up all components driving GHG emissions (agricultural soils, livestock and manure management) and C-sequestration (soil carbon, above and below ground biomass). Daniel combines participatory rural appraisal methods, field-lab experiments and process-based models to identify climate-smart practices.
